Root Canal Therapy
Also known as Endodontic treatment, the aim of this treatment is to save a tooth by removing the infected tissue within the tooth roots. Often the only alternative to a root canal is the extraction of a tooth.
A tooth may require a root canal because it has been damaged due to decay, or as a result of trauma to the tooth from an injury. Pain to hot or cold or a severe toothache can be indications that a tooth may require root canal therapy.
A Root Canal will require several visits, and we often recommend that the tooth is crowned afterwards as it can become brittle due to the central tooth structure being removed. A crown will successfully protect the tooth from fracturing.
